Equipping the Saints.

Pursuing God through the spiritual disciplines.

Abide, Delight, Obey.

Stored in my Heart is all about equipping the saints to abide in God’s Word, delight in God’s Word, and obey God’s Word. We believe the key to biblical obeying is delighting. The key to biblical delighting is abiding. And we believe the Bible is clear about what it means to abide in God’s Word. Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Joshua 1:8, and Psalm 1:2 all discuss the importance of a constant meditation on God’s Word. Perhaps, though, the strongest chapter in Scripture concerning the importance of abiding in God’s Word is found in Psalm 119.

This website is designed to equip brother’s and sister’s in Christ with practical biblical resources to practice the spiritual disciplines. The foundation of all spiritual disciplines is the Word of God. Therefore, you will find here pictures, devotionals, exhortations, and memory devices (namely through song) to help you say with the Psalmist in 119:11 “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I may not sin against God.”

1 Timothy 4:7 “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness..”

The Bible teaches that the spiritual disciplines (reading, meditating, memorizing, praying, fasting, singing, serving, discipleship, etc.) are not a religious system, but are gracious gifts. The spiritual disciplines are God’s means in which we, by God’s grace:
1. Kill sin.
2. Live holy.
3. Have effective ministries.

This is not a works based method of salvation or sanctification. the Bible teaches that God get’s all the glory for justification and sanctification. But we cannot ignore the imperatives to “make every effort,” “discipline yourself,” “pursue righteousness, faith, hope, and love,” and so many others. God has designed the spiritual disciplines to be the Spirit-empowered, grace-filled, vehicle in which we reach godliness. And the pursuit is a joy-filled pursuit that leads us into deeper joy.
